  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Spurs finished their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest with a centre-back pairing of Archie Gray and Yves Bissouma after Radu Dragusin hobbled off late on, and there is even more bad news for fans ahead of their match against Wolves on Sunday. Ange Postecoglou revealed in his press conference on Friday that Davies – who was due to return from injury imminently – has suffered a setback and will now be sidelined for a further two weeks at least. It leaves the North London club with no fit central defenders with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero also out.

    WHAT POSTECOGLOU SAID

Speaking to the media, Postecoglou said: "He is ruled out. Unfortunately he had a setback in training, so he'll probably be out for a couple of weeks. I think we've had close to pretty consistently 10 first-team players not available for a significant run of games. We've been kind of getting through it for quite a while and keeping our fingers crossed we don't get any more issues, but the nature of football and fixture scheduling we've had, we've always been on a fine line of being able to get through. It's another test for us, but it is what it is, and whatever we need to deal with, we'll deal with and get ready for Sunday."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The news surrounding Davies comes at the worst possible time for Postecoglou, who is under serious pressure after overseeing Tottenham's worst start to a Premier League campaign since 2008-09. A loss to Wolves at home could tip the fans over the edge, with the club already 10 points behind fourth spot in the standings. They remain closer to the relegation zone and a win for the visitors on Sunday would mean they are only five points ahead of their opponents, who are 17th.

    WHAT NEXT FOR POSTECOGLOU?

Postecoglou will be desperate to make it through until January when he can recruit some reinforcements. The former Celtic boss has been very vocal about Spurs' need to bring in some new faces to help get their season back on track.
